The latest mass shooting, this time at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, not only highlights the fact that the police were powerless to prevent or stop these attacks, but also that if the teachers at the school had guns to protect themselves and the students, not only would the assailant have been more afraid to start shooting, but he would have been stopped far more quickly. Of course you'll never hear that from the establishment media or politicians. And how often does the anti-gun crowd use murderous attacks like this as a reason for "gun control"? But the fact is that each of these cases highlights just the opposite.
The prevailing laws and anti-gun culture made sure those victims in Connecticut were unarmed. Connecticut is one of the most extreme anti-Second Amendment states in America. These murderous events do not prove the need for "gun control". They prove the need for an armed population. They also demonstrate the utter inability of the police to protect anyone from violent crime. 911 was immediatly called, and it has been worthless in this and all other similar incidents. They show up after the damage has been done. And the laws in nearly every state say that the police don't even have a duty to protect individual citizens. Citizens are on their own, and the sooner we know it the better.
For an example of how civilian gun ownership prevents crime, look no further than a recent story from Virginia. A robber wearing a fake beard burst through the doors of the AutoZone in Yorktown, Virginia waving a handgun, when former AutoZone employee Devin McClean grabbed his gun from his car and chased the armed robber out of the store. It's quite likely he saved the lives of his fellow employees.
Although the store’s manager was grateful for McClean's bravery, McClean was fired two days later.
“It’s pretty much getting slapped in the face doing something that you feel was right everybody else around you feels you were right,” said McClean.
Other than to reiterate the company’s zero tolerance policy on weapons inside stores, AutoZone representatives refused to comment on McClean’s firing.
This apparently is the new America, where gutless cowards sitting in boardrooms making huge amounts of money fire courageous employees risking their lives making little more than minimum wage if they violate their insane company 'policies'. Would any of the Autozone representitives who endorse this kind of outrage have cared if those employees were murdered? Apparently not. Do you think any of them would have shown the same courage as McClean? Even less likely. The culture we live in villifies Courage, self defense and guns. The fact is that the massacre in Connecticut would never have happened if the teachers were armed.
Now Obama and the anti constitution left are trying to use this tragedy to pass stricter gun control laws, which are designed to remove guns from the hands of decent Americans and let the criminals on the street AND in government run wild. They must not be allowed to twist this around to push their agenda to make the American people powerless. Those in power fear an armed population because it gives us the power to stand against their tyranny, whether it's in Washington, or in the boardrooms at companies like AutoZone.
"When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government." -
Thomas Jefferson, US Founding Father, drafted the Declaration of Independence, 3rd US President of the United States.
"Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence... From the hour the Pilgrims landed, to the present day, events, occurrences, and tendencies prove that to ensure peace, security, and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable...The very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference, they deserve a place of honor with all that's good."
