A NEW WAY OF PROTESTING MASK MANDATES

By Luis Miguel - thenewamerican.com

A new form of protest is "taking the mask off" the establishment's coronavirus hysteria and exposing the absurdity behind mandatory mask-wearing.

Known in some circles as "anti-mask masks," these thin face masks are made of permeable materials such as mesh and marketed as having no protective qualities whatsoever against the spread of COVID-19.

The idea behind the masks is that the wearers are still allowed to enter public places that require masks, even though their particular choice of covering is no different than wearing no mask at all - highlighting the fact that mask mandates are largely more about compliance than actual public health.

Political statements such as the above video demonstrate the faulty premise behind many state and county mask mandates, which is that any mask is acceptable, even though not all facial coverings are created equal. Consider Alabama. The Yellowhammer State's mask mandate reads:

Effective July 16, 2020 at 5:00 P.M., each person shall wear a mask or other facial covering that covers his or her nostrils and mouth at all times when within six feet of a person from another household in any of the following places: an indoor space open to the general public, a vehicle operated by a transportation service, or an outdoor public space where ten or more people are gathered.

And look at Maryland's definition of "face covering": "'Face Covering' means a covering that fully covers a person's nose and mouth, but is not a Medical-Grade Mask. The term 'Face Covering' includes, without limitation, scarves and bandanas."

Establishment "health authorities" are parroting the talking point that any mask is better than no mask. The CDC currently states, for instance, that "Cloth face coverings may slow the spread of the virus and help people who may have the virus and do not know it from transmitting it to others." But Lisa Brosseau, Sc.D., called the cloth masks worn by many in public "useless." While Brosseau believes people should mostly stay at home if they want to avoid spreading or getting the virus, she says cloth masks give people a "false sense of security."

She took issue with the CDC's recommendation of cloth masks, noting that "no government agency is entirely immune from political pressure."

"I don't have a problem with people wearing them. I just want them to understand that they aren't very much more protective than if they weren't wearing them. And they're really not doing a whole lot of good for the people around them," Brosseau concluded. Denis Rancourt, Ph.D., of the University of Ontario reviewed the medical literature related to mask-wearing and found there were no studies showing masks, medical or cloth, work to prevent influenza-like illnesses or respiratory illnesses transmitted by droplets or aerosol particles.

Rancourt wrote, "It would be a paradox if masks and respirators worked, given what we know about viral respiratory diseases: The main transmission path is long-residence-time aerosol particles (< 2.5 μm), which are too fine to be blocked, and the minimum-infective dose is smaller than one aerosol particle."

Furthermore, the droplets that mask proponents say are largely responsible for spreading the virus are emitted through symptomatic bodily reactions - coughing and sneezing. That undermines the narrative of masks being necessary to stop transmission from "asymptomatic" carriers.

Nevertheless, the establishment push for masks continues. The media continually portrays mask-wearing as the moral, compassionate thing to do while depicting non-mask wearers as selfish and ignorant.

According to Bloomberg, we must wear masks "until we find a vaccine." The agenda couldn't be any clearer. Masks are about instilling fear and a desire for normality that will only come if people accept the vaccine designed by globalists such as Bill Gates.

Mask-wearing continues to be a polarizing issue that is increasingly showing the divide along left-right political lines. Many constitutionalists oppose face masks not only because they are ineffective and insistence on them indicates acquiescence to hysteria-fueled fake science, but because forcing law-abiding Americans to wear anything is an overreach of government authority.

There's a place where people are told what they should wear, when they can leave their dwelling place, and who they can interact with. It's called prison. Anti-mask Americans refuse to be prisoners in their own country.
