In America today our government refuses to close the border with Mexico against the will of the people, letting millions of criminals from other countries enter our cities to wreak havoc. Our government eagerly looks for new ways to confiscate honest American's weapons and make us powerless. Our government is using more sophisticated ways than ever to make sure we comply with their unreasonable and unconstitutional laws. We are facing a crisis brought about by the corruption and malfeasance of our highest level politicians, and a time may soon come when we will be forced to defend ourselves, not only from the criminal underclass that they've created, but also against THEM, an increasingly intrusive, unconstitutional, and morally bankrupt government.
In many instances throughout history, when the decent people were living under corrupt government and were unable to live free from tyranny and persecution, while the true criminals were allowed to roam free, it became necessary for private citizens to rise up and make a stand, not only against common street thugs, but the traitors in positions of power. On occasion, Hollywood has come up with well made movies about heroic individuals fighting corruption and making a difference in a way that is not acceptable to the people in power. In real life, people occasionally come along who, like their movie counterparts, are not content with just accepting things as they are. These people do what those in power refuse to do. These people are known as vigilantes.
V for Vendetta came out in 2006, and was based on Alan Moore's 1980s dark graphic novel that follows a masked crusader who commits acts of terrorism in an attempt to defeat the corrupt and tyrannical government. It was set in the not-so-distant future, and it's about a masked freedom fighter who takes on an oppressive totalitarian regime. At the center of the story is the mysterious V, Hugo Weaving, wearing a cape and a Guy Fawkes mask, who is on a crusade to overthrow the government and restore civil liberties through acts of terrorism. He believes that a government should be fearful of its citizens, not the other way around, which I agree with 100%.
But this time Hollywood got it backward. They portray the government as being against homosexuals and immigrants, and the vigilante is seen fighting for these victims of the brutal regime. In the real world our government is refusing against the will of the people to do anything to stop illegal immigration, promoting an anti-Christian agenda, and pushing the homosexual agenda. Meanwhile Hollywood and the media are forever promoting rights for illegal aliens, homosexuals, and the anti-Christian viewpoint. V for Vendetta also has a special hatred for Christianity. In keeping with Hollywood's godless agenda they portray anyone who claims to be a Christian as the embodiment of evil. The British leaders are shown as a sneering den of religious hypocrites. In one outrageous scene a priest tries to rape a young girl. In case anyone missed the point that Christian belief is just a tool for manipulation, the government continually preaches "Strength through unity, unity through faith." The film has only sympathy, though, for those who want to keep a Koran around, as long as he or she ignores its religious instruction and simply "appreciates its beauty."
REAL LIFE: Eric Rudolph was accused of bombing a gay nightclub in 1997, two abortion clinics, one in 1997, the other in 1998, and the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Rudolph's motive for the bombings, according to his April 13, 2005 statement, was political: "In the summer of 1996, the world converged upon Atlanta for the Olympic Games. Under the protection and auspices of the regime in Washington, millions of people came to celebrate the ideals of globalism and socialism. Multinational corporations spent billions of dollars, and Washington organized an army of security to protect these games, even though the purpose of the Olympic's is to promote the despicable ideal of socialism. The purpose of the Olympic attack was to confound, anger and embarrass the Washington government in the eyes of the world for it's promotion of globalist socialism, and it's abominable sanctioning of abortion on demand."
In a blatant display of the government/media complex out of control, they at first tried to pin the Olympics bombing on a totally innocent person, Richard Jewell. The news media focused aggressively on Jewell as the presumed culprit, sifting through his life to match a leaked "lone bomber" profile that the FBI was using. The FBI aggressively investigated him in spite of a continuing lack of evidence. They publicly searched his home, questioned his associates, investigated his background, and maintained twenty-four hour surveillance of Jewell. Jewell sued NBC and the network agreed to pay him $500,000. After they were done villifying the innocent Jewell, the press and mainstream politicians got down to their usual business of blaming everyone who opposes abortion, homosexuality, and believes in a constitutional government for the bombings.
The original Death Wish with Charles Bronson came out in 1974. It was about a peace loving man living in New York city. His wife and daughter were brutally assaulted by some thugs. His wife was killed and his daughter was left comatose. The police were unable or unwilling to track down those responsible. At this point he decided it was time to make a stand. It starts with him walking the streets of the city one night when a mugger attemps to rob him. He turns around and slams him upside the head with a roll of quarters in a sock, and knocks him to the ground. After this he gets a handgun. He then starts walking the streets and riding the subway at all hours, hoping for an opportunity to do what needs to be done. He becomes a hero and a celebrity of sorts, and decides that he has found his calling in life.
REAL LIFE: A real life example of this occured in 1984 when Bernhard Goetz was riding the New York subway and was minding his own business. Goetz had no criminal record up to that time, and was known as a quiet and decent person. Several thugs with long rap sheets thought that Goetz would make for easy prey. They were wrong. They approached him and demanded money in a very menacing way. After being mugged once in the mid 1970's while with friends returning to a Harlem subway station, Goetz was mugged yet again in 1981 by three men and sustained injuries from the assault. It was this second violent event that prompted Goetz to begin carrying a gun.
Goetz had brandished the pistol on two occasions prior to the attack on the subway in order to frighten away would-be robbers. It was this firearm that Goetz whipped out when he decided it was time to teach them that they should respect other people's space and property. The government tried to throw the book at him, of course, but Goetz was eventually acquitted of all major charges, but he did serve eight months on a one-year sentence for illegal weapons possession. Goetz is still living in New York City and has run for both mayor in 2001, and public advocate 2005. He occasionally gives national and local media interviews about the 1984 subway incident which suddenly brought his private life into the public eye. He sells and services electronic test equipment via his company "Vigilante Electronics".
While this could be viewed as a comic book character, there are several aspects of the Batman personality that are based on the concept of vigilantism, similar to the Death Wish vigilante. He is the victim of violent crime, and society is unwilling or unable to do anything about it. He hates corruption and evil, and fights it with his identity hidden, because otherwise he would be arrested, villified by the media, and those in power would attempt to eliminate him. He has no superpowers as exibited by other's in these types of films, other than enough wealth to create some elaborate weapons, so the basic premise is more realistic and accessible. The better movie versions of the Batman character can help people realize that they can't trust politicians or police to solve their problems (they are much better at causing them!), and sometimes to get a job done right, you have to do it yourself.
So in that respect, it is a strong statement for individuality and against inept and corrupt government. The 1960's TV show and the Joel Schumacher films of the late 1990's made this character a foolish joke. However, the Michael Keaton films directed by Tim Burton, and the 2005 and 2008 Christopher Nolan films with Christian Bale captured some of the intensity and realism that would make such an unconventional vigilante personality believable. Vigilante attitudes are especially hated by the forces behind big media and mainstream politicians, mainly because it empowers you, and diminishes them. That's the thinking behind gun control: to eliminate the risk of a well armed population resisting their malfeasance, hypocrisy and tyranny. Crimes are thwarted every single day by people who simply choose to be un-victimizable. Unfortunately, the mainstream media will not report any of this because it would go against their anti-vigilante, anti-gun agenda, so don't expect these stories to be widely reported.
REAL LIFE: A group of men had forced their way into a house and were ransacking it in South Shields, England, when two passing plain-clothes officers were alerted by a woman inside screaming. The two Police officers were attacked by the armed gang. The criminals outnumbered them and were armed with a hammer, knives and chains, and viciously attacked the two unarmed officers. As one of them stabbed at a Policeman with his knife, a mysterious vigilante appeared from nowhere and attacked the intruders with a samurai sword. One of the burglars began running away but was stopped by the stranger who struck him on the arm with the sword. Two of the criminals were arrested, but in true hero style the vigilante disappeared before police could speak to him. Police are still trying to find the man who rescued them. (Who knows, they might want to arrest him!)
*In Orange City, Florida, Robert Shockey waited inside Blockbuster Video for his son, who worked there, to close the store. The store had been the scene of a violent armed robbery a month before. Shockey, who has a permit to carry a concealed weapon, saw two ski-masked robbers burst through the doors. One carried a hunting rifle and threatened an employee. Shockey pulled his handgun and shot the gun-wielding assailant. When the second robber reached for the rifle that his accomplice had dropped, Shockey shot him. Police not only ruled the shooting self-defense, they stated that they planned to give Shockey a "good citizenship award."
* Virginia Devoe was attacked in her Clintonville, Ohio home. Her former boyfriend, James Ryan McVey, kicked in the front door, dragged her through the house by her hair, and repeatedly kicked her. Then he attempted to kidnap her. That's when Devoe's 91-year-old neighbor came to her aid. Steve Becraft drew his handgun and shot the intruder. McVey's death ended years of violent assaults on Devoe. A local investigator praised Becraft, saying, "It's hard to know where she would be now if he hadn't done what he did.
* A football star was shot and killed by a clerk while trying to hold up a liquor store in Virginia. Derrick Breedlove, a talented tight end, had recently signed a scholarship to play for Hampton University in Virginia. Scouts were already touting him for an NFL career. But when he entered the liquor store wearing a ski-mask and brandishing a sawed-off shotgun, Breedlove was was sent to the locker room permanently.

Former President Bush has called the Minutemen of The Minuteman Project trying to defend our border with Mexico vigilante's and law breakers. If that gutless globalist poor excuse for a president did his job and built a wall to protect our borders, the Minutemen wouldn't need to do the job he refuses to do. They are real-life heroes being vilified by the media, mainstream politicians, and socialist Hollywood. Like Bernhard Goetz did over twenty years ago on a personal level, the Minutemen are fighting pure evil, coming at them from every direction. To the political and cultural elite, they are crackpots, kooks, and racists. Actually what they did was attempt to shut down parts of a border that has been used as a veritable freeway for illegal aliens, terrorists, smugglers, and anyone else who wants to come over. Meanwhile a US government that is supposedly fighting a 2 BILLION DOLLAR a week war to protect America in Iraq, does absolutely nothing to stop it.
The mainstream politicians take an oath to defend the constitution and your rights when they are sworn into office. Yet upon entering office, the vast majority of them betray that oath by doing absolutely NOTHING to abolish all of these unconstitutional laws. On top of this many of them enact even MORE oppressive anti-American laws, taxes, fees, and fines.
They want you to trust them. To trust the ruling elite, the police, the medical establishment and so on, is often a death sentence. Because of them, the problems we face as individuals and as a nation only get worse. The time will soon come when we will have to decide whether to live as silent slaves, or fight evil and corruption in low AND high places. Any sentient human being possessed of so much as a molecule of decency knows what choice to make.
